Shedding problem

Does he eat fruits, if, so give him some more, my red does this every once in a while, but it eventually comes off, once his tail got pretty bad, so i used baby oil, and it seemed to do the trick, i just rubbed it in like once a day for like 15min, and it made it real soft, then i could just pull it off, try that...
