When I put read, I meant Read this, not read up on your material...Yeah I was talking about surface temperatures because thats is what you usually measure. Bert raises his in Alabama outside, that works too but I'm sure that his hibernate a lot more due to colder temps...didnt you want yours to come out?
Well since you put it that way before READ! Buy a book, understand thermoregulation/thermodynamics, and temperature gradients, general reptile husbandry. If you raise the temp they will bask more/ be more active, but if you raise the temp too high they will move away from it more. If you make it too cold they will either hibernate or search for more heat. For this specific animal it chooses to sleep. Its really up to the animal and not you. You just have to give it choices. Supposedly the best combo is 120 on one side and 75 on the other.
