A good source of information for taxonomic questions is (usually) the Tree of Life. Although, sadly, the information there for snakes is "grossly" underrepresented (i.e., there is no real information at all): see http://evolution.uoregon.edu/~squamata/squamata.html

Maybe those investigators working on snake taxa can get together and "update" the snake pages on the TOL so others can use it as a real source of information.
