:It was xenosaurus rackhami but rack hami was synonymized and made just into the subspecies xenosaurus grandis rackhami. There was no xenosaurus rackhami rackhami to my knowledge.

If any subspecies are recognized within a species, one of them is always the nominate subspecies. The nominate subspecies is the subspecies to which the specimen from which the species description was made belongs, and its subspecific epithet is the same as the specific epithet. So if there was a Xenosaurus rackhami sanmartinensis, there had to be a Xenosaurus rackhami rackhami.
