True friends

I just graduated from college and this is also the first year I've owned herps. My "best friend" told me that "snakes weren't meant to be kept as pets," and I've had many reactions from interest to disgust to total enthusiasm. Some people are simply too conditioned by society to give herps a chance. You could look past this in your friends, but not past the cruel things they are saying that hurt you. If these are really good friends, you should be able to tell them that their lack of respect for your hobby hurts you, and if they still continue, forget them. After college is a whole different world, and there are a lot of us freaks who like reptiles out there. Good luck.
