Sorry for the mistaken posting. I am trying to post RE: black snakes. I am in just the same position.
I caught & released all kinds of snakes, poisonous and harmless in N.C. from the age of five until military service. Now my son is getting interested, so I am picking it back up.
I plan to capture & breed a pair or two of black rats in the spring of 98.
If you want to stay in touch, I will let you know next summer how it went.I can let you have some of the (babies)?? or capture you a pair or two of the adults. They are extremely available around here.
