Yeah a big female florida softshell scares me as much as a small rattlensnake. (and i'm sure chitra indica and chitra chitra could be really dangerous if they were upset) Softies are fast on land and in water and the long neck, huge sharp jaws, and temperment make them a formidable animal to have as a "pet". i love softies buti'd tell anyone that if you plan to get another one plan on a respect-based relationship. And as the other poster noted, a BIG tank.Actually i don't think snapper deserve the reputation they have. Ask around at the snapper forum, many are much nicer than softies. And plus, they're not nearly as fast or unpredictable. But softshells need friends as much as any other reptile group so consider helping out one that needs adoption. they don't adopt out well and they tend to stay in rescues and zoo "overflow" for long periods of time.
