soft shell turtle questions please reply ASAP

hi i might just might be getting a 4 inch softy soon.

I plan to keep it in a 30 gallon rubber maid container out doors. I am in southern CA so the weather is mild.

Do you think during the winter i can add a heater in the container so the water can be fairly warm?

Is there anything wrong with keeping a soft shelled turtle out doors?

Whats it's prefered temp?
