i just got a ss

i got a ss but i want to know what type of food should i feed it and my ss does not stay still in his tank he just keess on going crazy swimming quick is this normal and what type of thing should i put in the bottom i don't know were i could fine the sand and if i put a 3-4cm little rocks that i had with my res would that be ok or it will scrach my ss
