Found:black snake white chin and belly, weakly keeled with white inbetween scales, stout body approx.3 feet long and 1-1 and1/2" diameter, looks like a "rubber snake" BIG triangle GLOSSY BLACK head(only head is glossy)gives off OFFENSIVE ODER, and VIBRATES TAIL-like rattle snake. I live in NORTH CAROLINA. I've researched this and my list of suspects is:Banded water snake,Black rat snake, slim possibility pine snake-(not sure if pine snake is solid black on top). How does it vibrate its tail? What special feture does it have to do this?is it a common snake?Where can I find out more info. about this species and its behavior?
