::my guess; based on my fish breeding experience, is that if the tail was curled because of an incubation problem, rather then bad genes, then its not a problem as the turtle gets older.
Its probobly similar to getting an animal with a missing toes or something. It really shouldn't affect it through life. I was told that pigtails get caught on twigs sometimes and drown, but I only use smooth rocks in my habitats::
