Hi-

Ya, I think its pretty rare to find both of those turtles in Seattles waters. Espeically the softshell. Cause the ali'snaps are able to tolerate cold water (some people say they've seen them under a thin sheet of ice) but the softshell normal home are more tropical.

I'm pretty sure both were released into Seattles water. Not too many petshops sells those turts. Although I've seen lots of softshells in some asian markets, but never any ali'snaps.

As far as the orange coloration, you maybe lucky to have a uniquely colored ali'snap. They are normaly brown in color, but there are ones that have been captured or hatched that have the color range of really dark to almost white. So far that I know, no albino ali'snap has been discoverd or hatched.

I'm happy that those two turtles have found their way into your hands.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays,
Gam
