as a general rule i go with one square foot of surface area (water) per inch of turtle. Think that one through and you will be able to decide how big a cage to make/buy. Also i consider that aminimum. As for land a section about 1/8 the size of the water area seems plenty (as long as its bigger than the animal itself) and obviuosly much more for females which may be gravid.
