Tortugas salvajes

Tengo cuatro tortugas acuaticas (elegans) desde hace 5 años. Hasta ahora se llevaban bien, pero desde hace poco algunas han empezado a morder las patas de otras, y realmente se hacen verdadero daño, una de ellas tiene la patita trasera muy mal. He probado hasta a limarle un poco el pico a la mas salvaje, a quitrle el termostato a ver si el frio las tranuiliza... pero nada. Una opcion es separarla, pero me es muy costoso mantener al menos tres acuarios. ALguna idea? A alguien le pasa lo mismo? Saben por que lo hacen?
