absceso en una tortuga

Hola, me han regalado una tortuga macho que tiene un absceso de tamaño bastante considerable en la cabeza, casi junto a la oreja derecha. Me gustaría saber si esto es normal, a qué se debe, cómo se le trata, qué consecuencias tiene y si el animal está sufriendo.
