The snake probably can't see the blacklight. I'd turn it off during the day, though. Calcisand is ok, but I would definately not feed the snake on that substrate. Feed it in another tank or something. But if you want something that looks cool under a blacklight you should get an emperor scorpion. They glow blue under UV lights.
