Is there some husbandry "trick" concerning duct tape? Or was it a tank repair or something similar?

To get the tape off, couldn't you soak the animal a bit to loosen up the tape? I know greasy or slightly sweaty fingers tend to keep the tape from sticking, maybe a slight soaking with a light oil or something could help get tape off?
