I have 1.1 crested geckos and mine both get darker when I take them out. I have always thought that they get stress because they go darker. They actually look very beautiful. Especially my Orange Tiger, his stripes go black almost. Then again I always think maybe it is just the temperature change..... your hands, or the room temperature.
Well maybe that helped a little. :)
