I can never see my crested gecko eat!!!! is it normal

ive had my crested gecko for about 2 months or so, and i feed him about 5-8 crickets ever 3 or 4 days, and i have never seen him eat. he must be eating a little, because his cage doesnt have TONS of crickets in it, but it has enough in it to show me he's not a huge eater..... i dont know what to do, is this normal, or do they usually just eat right out in the open for you....????? well, if someone could please help me out, it would help me out, thanx justin
