he ATE his poop!

I just caught my crested gecko, Bane, eating his poop! I opened the tank to clean up poop, when he pounced on the piece I was going to clean up! I think he's done this before, because I noticed before that some pieces disapeared, but I thought they got stuck under the paper towels. Why is he doing this?!? He has enough food. He get crickets about 3-4 times a week and baby food the rest of the time. I took this pic right after he ate it. Some of the pieces fell out of his mouth and are laying around him.
