Safe and easy to clean. Loose substrate can be accidentally ingested while feeding and cause potential health problems. Cresties after all are very clumsy feeders. If you absolutely MUST use loose substrate please bowl feed your animals. At least this way the chance of ingesting any substrate will be greatly decreased. If it is a very young animal use bare bottoms. This way crix will not hide and the gecko will get its fill.
