handling

I have two juvenile crested geckos who dont like to be handled much. Sometimes I get one on my hand in their cage, but I am afraid to take them out because my apartment has 18ft high cielings and I am afraid one will get away. They seem to be very fast and jumpy. Any handling suggestions?
