Are you sure the crix are not hiding somewhere? If he is eating every night, you should easily be able to find feces, unless the cage is really large. As far as feeding, young animals should be fed every day and adults every other. Fruit mashes should be supplemented 2-3 times a week. It is also more effective to mix your vitamins and minerals in the fruit then dusting crix. Your way of heating is fine. In the summer you prob will not even need it. Just monitor the temps, if you do turn it on =).
