When housing cresties in groups each adult should have about 10-15 gallons of space. The cage material can be glass, screen, wood, or plastic. As long as there are no sharp edges that could possibly harm the animal. It also depends on how much time you want to spend cleaning the cage. Glass and plastic are usually the easiest.
