I need help with crested geckos being introduced

I have tried a few times introducing my female crested gecko into the males cage. They are both adults and have been housed seperatly there whole lives. When I introduce them they both show aggression towards eachother by biting eachothers tails and so on. We seperate them after we see this but is this a normal occurance or is there a better way to introduce these guys?
