Im glad to see you are putting your education to good use, and on reptiles too =). But yeah we could never expect a crested gecko to be blue, like say a dart frog is blue. They will primarily be a slate color if anything. However they still are beautiful animals in their own right. Perhaps in a few generations they will even be prettier, crested gecko morphs are still rather new anyway in the trade.
