Although I can't remember where I read it (and it seemed to me to be a pretty reliable source) I've read that studies on garter snakes have shown that they can recognize people by more than just smell. Whether that means that they can recognize visually, or if they can associate a smell with a person, I'm not sure. All in all, it said that garter snakes are one of the more "intelligent" snake species.


:as my 'tics are my garter snakes. Seriously :).
