turtle begging

Hi! I've read a few posts where people talk about their turtles begging for food. I am not sure what this is and would like to know. My turtle does this thing when she sees food or just wants attention, she goes to the glass of her tank and starts swimming hysterically, looking right at me. I am not sure if this is begging or if thats just her way of showing excitement. Anyways, I am just curious! Thanks!!!
