any shrimp, or just brine shrimp?

ive read from alot of people that when baby RES turts dont eat, give em' brine shrimp, or when they are older, give them brine shrimp for treats....... can you use just about any type of shrimp or does it have to be brine? why or why not? Also, when i feed my baby turts, they leave a little bit left (what they dont eat). this sometimes gets caught in the suction tube stainer thing....... i dont think they want to eat it off there.... thanks
