i dunno...but i do know that sulfa drugs were once used to treat yeast infections in women...so by that rationale...is it really logical that they would cause yeast infections in turtles? dunno. i think you should do more research. i've used them periodically on our turtles when i've been concerned about their shells. they didn't seem to hurt. i agree that you shouldn't use them all the time..or without good reason. but they are a good preventative tool (in my opinion) if you suspect fungal infections and such in your turtle. i do think though, that once a week...or even every couple weeks is way too much!!! do some more research. read what others have said by typing sulfa block, or dr turtle at the top of the page. know though, that dr turtles are not calcium blocks. they are something different. perhaps you should invest in some of those to help your turt. get the calcium that it needs.
we don't use anything for our turtles and their shells seem fine. change their water on a regular basis, and make sure they're basking enough. hopefully that will be sufficient.
