This book seems to try to cover as wide a range as possible regarding highly variable things like clutch size and snake size, etc. I'm sure 42 would be the record clutch size for this sp, but boy it would be nice to walk in on my female laying that many eggs....lol. This also says that Naja kaouthia lays between 25 to 45 eggs, though I've yet to hear of anyone's monocleds laying that many eggs.
