Thanks for the information regarding this species. It has certainly become my favorite species of snake to work with. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the babies come out, if the copulation took. I'm hoping the male bred with the other larger female, but the only copulation I actually witnessed was the male and greenish female. Courtship and "seeming copulations" (times I thought they were breeding when in fact they might not have been) lasted for around a week. The male would chase the female all over the enclosure and subdue her. This always happened later at night, past 9 pm CST or so. One night I came in and they were fully hooked up and almost looked stuck. They stayed that way for around 2.5 to 3 hrs. So, I'm counting days til egglaying from that day. I guess we'll see what happens. It's likely that even if the male bred with the other melanistic female that I wouldn't have seen it, as she is very reclusive and nervous compared to the other two and spends almost all her time in the hide. Who knows, maybe I'll luck out and end up hatching an 'axanthic' blue :)

The link to the pictures of them possibly mating is http://forum.kingsnake.com/rearfang/messages/4544.html. Again, this wasn't the time when for sure observed hemipenal penetration was witnessed, but was at least a likely time.
