I inquired about getting a brown tree snake a few weeks ago after visiting the Memphis zoo and seeing their animal in person. Unfortunately, it is illegal to import/keep this species in the US. It's not a state-by-state law, it's federal. They're afraid the same thing that happened in Guam will happen here. Which is definitely possible. If you need any more questions answered go to venomousreptiles.org and ask there. The site manager should get in contact with you. You may look into Blanding's tree snake (Boiga blandingi). They get HUGE, and are impressive snakes, and aren't restricted.
