Alan, wild caught yellow ratsnakes can be mean and nasty. Most will calm down with handling but still have an "edge" to them that turns off alot of snake fanciers. However, captive breeding now produces NICE looking yellows that have less attitude. Especially if you get the snake as a hatchling and raise it to be held, they can be as calm as most colubrids. They get to 6' and usually remain on the thin side--but eat most anything. They also come in designer colors....J
