I responed by e.mail to them,and a women named sheila responded that they were derived from black rat stock.Don't know what the real deal is,but thats what she told me.
I think you might have mis-read the email, hopefully my email response to you cleared this up. The original "ghost" glades rat snake(aka white-sided) was WC in south Florida, completely out of the black rat snakes range. This was in the early/mid 90's I think, either before or concurrent with the discovery of the licorice black rats in MD. I can recall seeing whitesided glades rats for sale at the expos as early as 1997, but I don't remember seeing licorice rats available until that article in the Vivarium came out a year or two later.
