I'm guessing their bloodlines are unrelated, but come from the eastern part of their range. Tim's web site (and he puts a great bit of info on the bairdi color and range) states that his founding breeders are Bandera Co, Texas locale. My view when I was going to possibly obtain Bairdi was, if you want a Texas Bairdi then I favor the aluminum metallic sheen ( Tim coined that term on his web site) with all the hidden and orange overtones. Just my opinion. If you want a Mexican Bairdi, then you like the darker color body with the grey head. The Mexican bairdi hold its own if you favor that one. There's an area in Texas where bairdi naturally integrades with Texas rat snakes by the way. I don't know the area, but Travis Grasha does.
