Yes, I do have a similar experience. I am waiting for my Elaphe dione to lay her eggs. I have read reports where E. dione breeds in fall, stores the sperm, and becomes gravid and lays eggs the next spring, and that's what I expected, but here we are in late November, and I'm waiting for eggs. Well, since E. dione eggs have a very short incubation time, maybe mine will be some of the first "Millennium Snakes" ;-)
If the babies eat voluntarily, I will not hibernate them, but just continue to feed them and hibernate the following winter.
