: : : I was wondering if wild caught mandarin ratsnakes acclimate well to captivity or if they usually do very poorly. Anybody have any experience with w/c mandarins?
: : : Thanks
: : I don't have any hands on experience w w/c but I have known quite a few people who have tried. As a matter of fact I just asked someone last week, who got a few several months ago, how they were doing. None of them are doing anymore. Someone else I know tried about 50 of them a few yrs back and not one of them is around now... A lady I know here in Mesa bought one at a pet store and the guy swore it was eating mice. Well he died after about a month. Not to say it can't be done, I know some have, but they are few. I just bought some 2001 cb mandarins and could not be happier w/ them. My pair is doing great. My advice is save the money and go cb, you won't regret it.

: Thanks for the advice Don. I saw some really cheap on an importer's list and was tempted but I guess you get what you pay for. I'll look into some captive born mandarins. Could you tell me where you purchased your from?
: Thanks again,
: Chris
:I've been working with a friend with mandarins and unless you're willing to put a lot of effort in medicating the imports, you're better off getting c.b. We,ve gotten about 50% to do well, but only after 2 mos. of work. If you need info, let me know.Mark
