As babies they are more tan in color. As adults they turn more of a yellow/gold. I don't think I would call them brightly-colored, as the yellow on adults is usually very soft. Of course there might be some 2 or 3 year-old snakes that are very bright. Someone had a pic of a young male that was super bright, but that is not the norm.
