: The Central Chinese are Fall breeders too. They usually breed for a month or two for me before I put them down, then again in the spring. My South Korean dione, which are wild caught (from Seoul), however, stubbornly refuse to eat after September, and I have to put them down early. My female has refused to breed upon emergence for four years, but last year I left the male in til the middle of May, and there was a somewhat late breeding. The female dropped ten viable eggs and they all hatched. I still have a 'high' from that one. I think the dione are very opportunistic. I will wait 'til after first shed for the Koreans though.

: Thanks for the pics, Chad :)

: : Well, this pair decided to hook up right away out of cool down and they have been locked tight for over 24 hours now!!! Look in the center of the pic for the hook up.

I have never put these diones together in the fall, or any other species that I work with. Only let them "meet" each other in spring time. I think that with most snakes, they are oportunistic and will breed when given the opportunity. Well, maybe not in the middle of summer. In the wild, it is not as easy to find a mate as it is in captivity, in my opinion that is.
