Transpecos Terror!!

I just got a "tame" female subadult transpecos rat who is very nervous and bitey. She supposedly just came out of brumation and I fed her the day she arrived and she ate just fine. Will her attitude get better as she adjusts? The holding behind the head routine causes her to twirl violently. Whats the best way to calm this little gal down?
