: Two years ago I picked up a five foot male Texas Rat in a pet store for $10.00. He was a beauty- the local people in Tomball,Texas call them "Langhammers" (Texas slang for Lindheimers).
Anyway I named him "Willie" (Will he bite me?).He never did and was one of the best snakes I have ever owned. I bought another-from a different pet store- a female -also w/c- named her "Willamina". Also a wonderful snake. I bred them two years in a row and the hatchlings were also very docile. As they grew up they turned into beautiful snakes.
I have on occassion been given other Texas rats that would do nothing but "pop the glass" every time I walked by. They were were evicted not to long after that. If you get nice ones they make wonderful additions to any collection. I am currently working with a great pair of Orange Texas Rats who are docile as goldfish. Their hatchlings were a little testy at first but have calmed down nicely. I highly recommend them.
