I have seen E.O.O. from many parts of their range
and I would say elevation definately has alot to do
with how dark they get. Ones I've seen from
Wisconsin and Minnasota, looked very similar to
lindhiemeri as large adults. Adults from central
New York state were dark brown with a somewhat
visable pattern, some from parts of Ohio looking
similar. Some I've seen from high elevations in
South & North Carolina, Virginia, Arkansas, and
eastern Oklahoma were as jet black as they could
be. You can find jet black ones in most of their
range, but they will be most consistently
black in the higher elevations. That is what I
have observed so far.
