telling ya that I have seen different colors of the black rats around here. Down in Southeast Missouri I have caught black rats that were probably the blackest I have ever seen. I found a black rat once eating a nest of baby rabbits. It was probably 4 or 5 feet long and jet black. Maybe I will take a trip down there this summer and see if I can get some pics.
: to only Dwight, but I was soliciting an opinion from the MAN on obsoleta. Thanks for your info. I would love to get a pair or two from other Kentucky locales to work with. Dwight had mentioned Kentucky had the most or one of the most varialble black rat snakes. I've seen posts of pics of black rats from Missouri and other states and they don't seem to have such a variable color within the same state. Just my observation; that may not be the case. Of course this interest in black rat snakes comes from me and my favorite North American rat snake is the Texas rat snake. Go figure.
