Hi i just wanted to share a sad story, I had a female texas luecistic rat I got from South Mountain last Janurary that was the nicest, tamest snake I have ever had, she was even 'personable'. This winter her appatite decreased, but I though, hey it's winter. She was eating about once a month and sheddin once every two months or so. Well, I left for the weekend, and when I got back I thought she was dead, rushed her to the emergency clinic where she got fluids and baytril. She died the next morning. She was fine Friday when I left! I took her to my vet for a necropsy and he said other than a slightly small liver and a slightly large kidney, he couldn't find an obvious cause of death. He is sending Histopath samples out today. She was living with my male corn snake so I am terrified it was something contagious. If I loose him too I might have to be commited.
Has this sudden death thing ever happened to anyone else? My vet said sudden death when the snake seemed healthy is uncommon.
Oh, this was the snake that I posted a picture of a little while ago that was curvy, I called her my kinky rat snake. I showed that pic to the vet and he couldn't tell me if it was directly related to her death or not.
