In Reply to: Is your leucictic PURE E.o.o. or is it hybrid to E.o.l.? n/p posted by Dewey on January 30, 2002 at 13:49:29:
I am not aware of any pure leucy E.o.o. I am fairly certain that leucy Tx rats were bred to black rats to try and get a less aggressive leucy snake. After years of breeding back to black rats they would be about 95% or more black rats genes, so they would not resemble Tx rats, but are still not pure. If I am wrong and someone knows of a wc leucy black rat write and let us know.
: : : Hello,
: : : While the leucistic texas rats are bred by alot of people, I am having problems finding a breeder of leucistic black ratsnakes. I also want a breeder who has animals free of eye deformities (bug eye). Any ideas?? Thank You!
: : I have bred leucistic blacks for several years now and have only had about one percent hatch out with the bug eyes. None of my breeders have bug eyes, but seem to produce one every other clutch or so. I have continually have introduced new blood into the colony in an effort to reduce the number that are produced. Keep in mind that the deformity seems only to be aesthetic. I have raised one male with bug eyes for the past 3 yrs to see if it was a problem. He feeds normally on pre killed mice, but can catch and kill if fed live. Email me for more info.
