In Reply to: Is your leucictic PURE E.o.o. or is it hybrid to E.o.l.? n/p posted by Dewey on January 30, 2002 at 13:49:29:
: My original breeders were sold to me 10 years ago as pure E.o.o. I have used normal E.o.o. since to strengthen the bloodline and try to reduce the eye problem. The hets that I have hatched out are all black as adults, no sign of E.o.l. influence. This line has produced "rusty" phase black rats occasionally. These are a hypo of the black rat and do not seem to bear any resemblence to the Texas.
I might mention that the Texas attitude is not present in the E.o.o. leucistic. All of my adults have a killer feed response, but are quite calm when handled. In contrast, my albino Texas would sooner chew your face off than be handled.
