Hi Mark,
Very interesting to hear your account. How big are they now? Mine, a 1 year old WC captive born, loves to immerse itself in the water dish.
So far, I've had to take it out from its enclosure in order to handle it. Otherwise, the moment I place it back, it'll strike out at me. Very unpredictable snake.

: : I agree with Fab, unless cycling for breeding (cb)they can be maintained as any other rat snake. WC can be very troublesome. My "Pair", which i've had since hatchlings, are captive hatched and are about 15 years old they are a joy to keep. Fab sorry I haven't sent the article, will rectify asap. Mark
:
: : It depends if CB or WC.
: : For both:
: : an arboreal setup....28-30°C, 60-70% humidity....plenty of branches and fake plants for hiding. Non need to mist unless cycling for breeding or in the case of WC which usually dont drink out of the water bowl.
: : Can be tamed with patience (mine has become a kitten).
: : It isnt a difficult species to keep, they are undemanding though a little shy and racy.
: : good luck
: : fab
