To tell you the truth I think that bairds are on of the least appreciated of all north American Elaphe. I've been keeping them for some time and not only are they good looking snakes but they grow to a nice size and have a better than average temper. The babies have all been a little nippy and the adults are aggressive feeders sometimes making them intimidating but I've yet to be bit by an adult. My average clutch size has been about 9 with 6-12 being normal. I care for them the same way I would a corn snake and they seem to breed just as easy. The only trouble I've seen with them has been finding people to buy them and why I'm not sure? I think last year I ended up wholesaling them all (Ok, I kept two pairs for myself) at about $15, but I'll still keep and breed them just for how fun they are. I'm sure prices will stay that way for a while and then someone will find an albino and everybody that wants to make a buck will have them for $2000 like all the other $40 tricolors with $1960 worth of color.
I would highly recommend getting one and I'm sure you will be as happy with yours as I have been with mine. Good luck and if you need any other info please feel free to let me know? Also if you don't know where to get one you may want to check with KJ? He's one of the only other people I know that breed them and I've heard his look very nice.
