It's not unusual for rat snake hatchlings to have more attitude than corn snake hatchlings. Yours should be O.K. with handling. Adam Block takes excellent care of all his snakes and offspring, but I don't think he or most breeders handle the hatchlings much. The Bairdi I got from Adam this year rattle their tails etc., but their coming around and calm right down after I pick them up. I would think something was wrong if I didn't walk by my snakes and some of the rat snakes didn't rattle their tails and cock their heads, especially Texas locale rat snakes. I think E. Bairdi is one of the more docile rat snakes, but they are not usually as docile as corns. Everytime I say that everyone with a bairdi says theirs is as calm as any corn. HaHa
